We had a good 100 pages of excitement and now we are back to a slog. More than halfway and honestly not much has happened, plot wise. I can respect the world building but the bulk of the book has been dialogue and way more tell than show. Paul is almost a John Stu. I’m struggling to care, honestly. But I still want to finish.

Total tone and writing change at about the 150 page mark and now we’re cooking with gas.

I can appreciate how this changed science fiction, and essentially created the space opera genre (my favorite type of scifi), but the writing style hasn’t aged well. It’s a bit of a slog.
