It's wild how many different interpretations you can get out of some of these words

I'm very much taking my time with this, as I'm using it to check my understanding of each verse as I attempt to read it in the original Sanskrit via an interactive learning resource online.

I've translated whole 2 verses! I'm loving the poetic meter, which is lost entirely in English.

The purports in this book are driving me crazy. Vaishnavism distorts the Mahabharata so much.

Completed the first 2 verses! And could genuinely work them out! The purports are maddening, though. So much projection, not to mention a deep misunderstanding of the Mahabharata as a whole. The Pandavas are *not* saintly. Ffs Yudhishtira gambled away his family in a game of dice! The wrong side won this war. And Kali is not 'evil'. Ugh! But very useful literal breakdown of the translation, to check my work.

I'm going to be taking a *very* long time with this one, as I'm attempting to learn the Sanskrit at the same time, using a wonderful website that has an interactive word-by-word breakdown, with easy summaries of each verse, building up to the full original text.
