Bryson's statistics on educational funding in Britain, contrasting with their educational achievements.... I found this utterly delightful.

I am just thrilled to have managed to resume listening to this audiobook courtesy of Libby.

Bill, I've missed you!

Sadly, Libby (the platform that lent me this audiobook) has disappeared this book. One more puzzlement in this mysterious world, Goodreaders.

When I have access again, I'll resume reading-and-praising Bill Bryson's insightful book about England.

I haven't dipped into this book yet today, yet this is unusual. I've been telling people I know about bits and bytes of this book.


For a famous author, including famous travel writer, Bill comes across to a surprising extent... as a friend.

Bill's restaurant reviews are priceless, like his intrepid write-ups of poor communication to train passengers who seek to learn which platform they'll need to stand on.

British eccentricity on parade.

So entertainingly recounted by Bill Bryson.

The "Stupidity Test" is the chucklesome highlight of Bryson's book for me. So far.

Thanks to Bill Bryson, I had a vivid (imaginary) visit to Skegness, England. This seaside town, by the North Sea, was rainy.

Shopping included a clothing store with garb that, according to Bill, your grandmother might have worn. While a nearby thrift shop was selling clothing that one's grandmother could have worn and, then, given away.

All all this narration with Bill was spiced with his dry wit.

Bill Bryson's love of museums is contagious. And this Goodreader was already a lover of museums!

Often I laughed out loud, loudly.
