I’m confused , first 5 chapters she’s in her town w her family the next she’s running in an acadamey - like how did we get here ?

the writing is just so bland. she’s using a lot of exclamation points but there’s no feeling behind it - it’s like things are bad! my dad is mean! but make me feel that ! there’s no build up it’s just telling you how it is. I want to be shown how it is and feel that without you having to tell me
