Oh so the insane man wants to relive that horrifying scene in the first book with his ex? You know what? I think someone should let him find her and do it. At least he won't be destroying the world. Imagine asking the prince of hell for that. ALSO FLAG VOMITING HERALD WET RAT IS BACK! I hope he's not evil. I love him, your honor.

They're putting zombies in the blender. I liked it better when the herald was throwing up flags. That was at least funny. I loved when the demon was like aww man did you have to do that here? I don't want flags in my office. Ruins the unaffiliated vibe. Now it's being all gross again like the first book. Well, I can definitely say I've never read anything like this series. I can't believe the pope is juicing zombies.

Not related to this particular book in the series, but I just found the author's website, and he collects fanart on there. Somebody did a medieval illustration of the scene in The Justice of Kings where a fox is killed for some sort of magical ritual. I am now sad. It's beautiful art. I just...sadness.

Meanwhile in this book, the kitty cats are winning and the prince of hell is loose. Small victories, I guess?

They explained the plan. It did not go through. I'm getting very tired of that narrative device. Can't writers mix it up every once in a while?

The herald is vomiting flags. I'm being serious. He's literally throwing up country flags for countries that have existed at some point in history. Latest one was the panther people's national flag. They are accompanied by a little bit of the land they live on. Or water, if they're merfolk. I do not envy the herald. It sounds painful. God what even is this series and why do I love it?

I think this is about to become a pirate book. Please let there be zombie sea monsters. That would be so cool.

In the back of the book, there's a page talking about the decline in child literacy rates and why it's important for kids to read for fun from a young age. They think parents are reading big, thick tomes about necromancy? Most parents I know barely have time to read a popcorn type romance or mystery once a year, let alone the fifth book in a very complicated fantasy series. But hey, at least they're trying.
