At this point, I’m hooked : )
This book is definitely unique and so are the characters. I just got to the part where the curmudgeonly (but very funny) Veronica arrives at the penguin 🐧 research station, determined to show that she can handle the climate and rough conditions, despite her age and lack of field experience. Even though she’s cranky and bossy, it’s hard to not want to root for her!

Okay, I’m hooked so far! The characters are definitely kooky and I don’t know where the story is headed, but I want to keep reading and find out!

I’m intrigued! I have enjoyed many non-fiction books about Antarctica, but have not had much luck finding a fiction book set there that I didn’t end up disliking. This one seems to have some promise, though. The main character is kind of kooky and I get the impression the story will have some fun surprises.
