After Zoe denies Nick’s order to destroy a copy of Pride and Prejudice. Zoe reads the novel, Darcy comes to life and moves in with her. She soon discovers that keeping him is a dangerous mistake and his presence in the real world can erase both Darcy himself and the novel from existence. “Mr. Darcy is starting to fade, and unless you read him back into Pride and Prejudice soon, he'll disappear completely" (165).

The beginning of the novel has been very exciting! Zoe loves romance novels and she dreams of becoming a romance author one day. A bookstore owner Nick refuses to sell the genre. “I hate romance novels because they're toxic. They sell readers–predominantly women, as you say–completely unrealistic ideas of what love should be like” (Sampson 6). My prediction is that Nick and Zoe will fall in love with each other.
