Currently listening to the audiobook but so far I hate it. Similar to Yesteryear the characters are all unlikable, they’re meant to be unlikable, but it’s killing my motivation. I see the commentary being made but when the whole story revolves around utterly unbearable people making stupid decisions I just want to leaving their dumpster fire to themselves. Nothing is motivation me to watch that shit show.

At 3.4x speed I have about 1 hour left. I don’t think this book is for me, this dark satirical litfic, but neither do I think it delivers what the premise of the book promise. So I don’t see what the raving review are about…

Her husband is awful and out of line but he feels just like a caricature of a evil controlling husband. We never get to know more about her previous mental health issues but it’s constantly mentioned, just as a trauma-dump, and feels just like what this book is trying to make satire out of: capitalizing someone’s suffering. In this case domestic abuse. And asking the question who gets to tell this story?

This is just depressing. Described as funny but there is no humor in this book. Just showing the bleakest, grittiest and most negative and disgusting worldview of modern humanity and making you question if there is a single likable person in these character’s world.
