I didn’t find this the easiest of reads and it was quite unsettling to process. We follow Dana who, through time travel, is repeatedly transported back from 1970’’s California to slavery on a plantation in Maryland.

I can’t say I loved it as it is tense and disturbing throughout but it is gripping and throws up important messages and thoughts. One that will definitely sit with me for a while.
