At least they had one day of victory! Thank the gods. I was so glad to see Victoire finally taking the stand to shoot at Playfair. I mean she has always been a rebel, both through her ethnicity and because of her gender, but this is the first time she held the gun and actually used it.
I seriously understand why this book is named the way it is. I love it when it all comes together. Babel: the necessity of violence! The moment, Robin’s heart broke, not when he was I the gaol, dealing with all the brutalities Sterling Jones was putting him through, but more so when he lost his brother who tried saving him, has been trying to save him, that really broke him, after Ramy. How they have survived to see another day, this day! To actually implement what Griffin was suggesting all along, the transformation of the timid, non violent Robin into someone who’s proclaiming, preaching, the way Griffin or Ramy would. It’s beautiful to see him grow into this rebel. How he was this naive innocent child when he prevented a fight with some seniors on his first day, during their walk through the city, to now, when he’s actually rallying support to stop the war against China, his character build has come so far. But he had to see all that was wrong, really see, without having the ability to divert his attention. His trip to Canton has broke him and Ramy and Griffin had build him back, strengthened his conviction. While Anthony, Victoire!
