Some of these are really really funny. Also disturbing and possibly misanthropic. It reminds me a lot of P. G. Wodehouse but several shades darker, like Saki would gladly give you a good laugh, but also leave you bleeding in a an alley later in the evening, possibly after being humorously mauled by a prize winning pig.

I think you're exactly right! I think that's one of the reasons they seem so funny and yet so cutting. I'm enjoying my time with his work and trying to trace common themes through this massive collection. Thanks for the note!
