I discovered “book nova” this morning. I’m shocked, but I’m not tbh. I even looked at their Facebook page and some of their preselected book covers looked too familiar. There is even an “authors” fb group where they give each other tips for using this AI program. Eek

Snafuzled Well that’s depressing. I wonder if there’s much money in doing these ai books on KU? I wouldn’t think much considering how few reviews most of these books have. It seems like a lot of effort for crap material. And then they don’t even edit to make it look real! They all have a case of the lazy bones. What a weird time to be alive.

Jetscarbie It’s interesting because over 70% of the top Amazon books are these AI template books, Snafuzled (or at least they look like template books) Book Nova is definitely not the only place offering these AI templates.

Snafuzled 70%???!!!! Well crap… I guess there is money to be made. It would be nice if Amazon required some type of disclosure, but I can’t see how they could enforce that practically.

message 4: by Jetscarbie (new)

Jetscarbie Sorry, I should clarify- 70% in the betrayal/2nd chance category.

Natalie Hold up, these people have an entire AI built to help them write fucking novels and they STILL keep going back to the same tired-ass betrayal bullshit? 🤣🤣🤣

AI: “I can help you build a fantasy romance with political drama, forbidden powers, complicated family relationships, and -”

Author: “Boring.”

AI: “Okay, how about a historical whodunit?”

Author: “Nope.”

AI: “A cute little small-town love story?”

Author: “Absolutely not.”

AI: “Maybe we could create a morally questionable female lead who actually controls the direction of the plot?”

Author: "GET HIM TO FUCK HER SISTER."

AI: “...Are you fucking serious?”

Author : "Yup. Deadass! And while you are at it make sure he does it because he thought the sister was a magical pillow sent by the goblin king to test his loyalty, but then he accidentally signed a legally binding demonic lease for the spare bedroom while sleepwalking. Plus his ex girlfriend cursed his entire lineage so he legally had to smash her twin sibling just to keep the home Wi-Fi password active for another week"
💀😭🤣😭😭😭

Sorry babe but I can't be serious about this💀💀🤣🤣 these Facebook groups where they trade AI prompting hacks give off total cult compound energy 🤡🎪 They aren't even trying to be lowkey about the fact that a computer is doing 100 percent of the heavy lifting while they take full credit 🤣💀

Jetscarbie Natalie- basically, it’s a form that they fill in.
FMC name-
MMC name-
Villain-

And the more info you fill in, the better the story turns out. There are sections where you write the “anchor” to the story.

It seemed most Susie Homemaker that use the program probably just use it to fill in gaps, check grammar, and fix spelling. The worst are the big farming corporations that have a whole team of “authors” and they are pumping these things out at the speed of light. They saturate the market.

But yes…there are people that are letting AI programs write the majority of the books. That’s probably why so many seem to make no sense in the last half of the book.

It’s definitely a crazy rabbit hole to jump into.

message 7: by Jetscarbie (new)

Jetscarbie One “author” said that she only fills in about 20%- lets the program finish the rest, then she copy/pastes it to word to tidy it all up. 🙃 naturally…she was using a fake account to post that info.

olivia V. its also part of the reason these books sound so similar all the time, and use the same elements over and over, the ai has to use whats been written before and its only guided by prompts here and there. thats why you see the same type of reaction from the characters and the same names etc. the ai programs can only recycle what it knows already so you end up with the same book just a few tweaks here and there.

Jetscarbie Natalie- it’s not just the betrayal books either. It’s taken over shifter books and the same town romance categories. I’m sure it’s spreading to them all eventually.

Olivia- exactly!
My husband is bad about listening to those dumb reel movies. Moretti and Sterling last names are used in almost all of them.

It’s so frustrating

olivia V. we should fight back with our own ai books since everyone else does, with our own heros that are not zeros.

Jetscarbie This is what I found out.

1. Alternatives to BookNova AI (AI Fiction Writing Tools)
If you are looking for other AI-powered software designed to help authors outline, write, and format long-form fiction, the best alternatives vary by how much control you want:
• Sudowrite: The closest alternative. While BookNova functions as an autonomous tool that generates full books from a single prompt, Sudowrite acts as a sentence-level "co-writer". It requires more hands-on manual writing but offers excellent deep-dive editing and prose-expansion features.
• NovelCrafter: The ideal choice if you want to orchestrate your own custom AI writing pipeline. It allows you to build a highly structured "Story Bible" for characters, lore, and locations, giving you more granular control over the final draft compared to BookNova.
• NovelAI: A great alternative if you want to write mature or niche fiction. Like BookNova, NovelAI utilizes a highly uncensored model that won't filter out heavy action, dark themes, or on-page romance. However, it operates much more like an interactive text-adventure or a piece-by-piece prose assistant rather than a full-book generator.
• Squibler: Best for authors who want to produce raw words incredibly fast. Squibler helps you outline and rapidly draft chapters, though it typically requires heavier manual rewriting afterward.
