Justin Partridge’s Reviews > The L.A. Quartet: The Black Dahlia / The Big Nowhere / L.A. Confidential / White Jazz > Status Update

I’m starting to think this Howard Hughes guy wasn’t a very good person.

Man, this one is wiiiiiiild

L. A. Confidential (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️; I forgot this gets almost into 1960!)

“He deems the Frankenstein tag appropriate: tennis racket strings were found at all five crime scenes, and the third victim had darning-needle holes in his armpits. Exley concludes that the fiend is recreating children with stitching and a knife; he begins hauling in deviates, cranks, looney bin parolees. He wonders what the killer will do for a face—and learns a week later.”

The Big Nowhere (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

I’m probably going into overtime with this one but it’s still crazy compelling.

Boy, this second one is gnar.ly.
