Released in 2019, it is not Gailey’s fault that the 2020s reader will think this sounds like ‘Wednesday’ (because it is a murder mystery in a spookydook school with an obviously sus headmistress) and ‘The Owl House’ (because sisterly rivalry in a magical school). Possibly both properties may, in fact, have taken influence from Gailey.

Yet another noir slant in my year of them, this time the dame in her office with a tale as long as her legs asks the hardboiled gumshoe to solve a murder at a magical school. (The PI is female and her sister teaches there.) Picked up for £1 at a library clearance sale.
