I went into this pretty blind, just knowing there were bull fights at some point. Pretty early on, I started cringing at the characters. Cohn and his fiancé, Jake and the prostitute, and Lady Ashley and Mike. Everyone is drunk all the time, cavorting, and fornicating - it seems so vapid. Juxtaposed to the backdrop of marvelous European scenes, the characters feel unworthy, sad, and small - The "Lost Generation."
