I love the prose. It reminds me a little of when I read The Enchantress of Florence by Salman Rushdie, though admittedly that was ages ago when I was a teenager. The narrative is not plot-driven, but rather character-driven, and artfully navigates through the lives of Ahmad and his family, weaving the politics and poetry and everything else.
