Finally to the good creepy part

Thought this would be a perfect read for October. A lot of lore dumping upfront though and somewhat confusing- The main character lives in a fictional country but is talking to an American doctor about the civil war? Those sorts of settings always detract for me either be set in the real world or be fictional don’t try to be both
