i think i should give up on the YA genre as a whole ts too corny for me. beautiful premise but i cannot do awkward teenagers who think they're very important and they're shouldering big responsibilities. it makes me nervous and annoyed!!!! pls just do ur homework and go to bed pls

some writing traits make it clear that the audience was mostly supposed to be teenagers (eg, cliched topics of how eyes looked like a mix hazel and green and blue and whatnot, and silly first loves which are cute but maybeeee slightly overdone) but the premise otherwise is engaging. my fear of reading YA stems from me finding the main character childish but that doesnt seem to happen here thankfully
