Has significantly improved once she got rolling and is a pretty quick and enjoyable enough read. Still a lot of oddly manufactured moments to show how #feminist the 18th cent protag is and the author struggles a bit with show don't tell and not having characters saying exactly what they mean. Hoping things continue to improve

I worried earlier I was too "person who has only seen bossbaby watching a 2nd movie" when I said it seemed heavily influenced by Outlander, but it felt too right so googled it. The author has a selfpublished wordpress article about how Outlander influenced her writing heavily.

Now I have an abundance of unkind words for Outlander, but it was Gabaldon's 1st book, this is Lawhon's 6th....
