Apple Lyra ✨ > Status Update

So after I finished Better Than the Movies, I felt kind of weird just keeping River's copy forever even though he gave it to me as an apology. Plus, my cousin had actually gone through and crossed out the bad language and other stuff so I could read it comfortably. So I honestly don't know why (maybe because I wanted him to read it) but I decided and asked my mum to hand the book back to his mum at work with a quick note saying thanks for the lend and that it was safely censored now if he ever changed his mind about reading it.
I literally thought that was the end of that chapter.
WELL. Today my mum comes home from work holding a brown paper bag, hands it to me, and says with a smirk, "River said you shouldn't be left empty-handed." Now why would she say that!
I open it... AND IT IS A BRAND NEW COPY OF HEARTLESS. The exact book that went into the ditch during our first collision.
There was a sticky note too inside that said:
"Can't have you returning my apology book and leaving yourself with nothing. Your ditch debt is officially cleared now. Enjoy the read. — River"
I am currently pacing my bedroom floor staring at this book. He literally did NOT need to go out of his way to buy it just because I returned his copy!! Now I feel like we’re in some endless loop of exchanging books through our poor mothers at work. How do I even thank him when I don't even have his number and I basically only ever see him when the universe forces me out of my front door?! 😭
