oh lord i did manage to forget exactly how poorly written this book is. it's absurd. where is the show. where is ANY show. it's all tell. i've been so fucking spoiled by Summer Sons. and The Raven Boys honestly like there's a lot of tell in there too but the show is actually present and it does work

now see the end of the last book wasn't good but it engaged me at least a little. the beginning of this one is agonizing and not in the good way

I just. Okay. So I just read the preview of The Wolf and His King and the prose in that book is fucking stunning. Same with Summer Sons, genuinely the writing alone in that book is enough to move me to tears it’s just GOOD.
