Pacing is pretty odd so far, I would imagine a book like this would want to really hyper-focus on the relationship between the two principle characters, but despite all the meandering around the plot with Paul and Julian "getting to know each other", I feel very disconnected from them both. Neither one has a discernible personality as of yet, so I can't really be moved by their growing entanglement.
