Okay. I am struggling with this narrator, but I am determined to get to the dang island. I've got, like, 20 more pages. If, once we're there, I still find myself struggling, I'll dnf.

Well, I liked the scene where she remembers being on the island. But, she was there for all of 20 minutes, and she's in her 30s and still actively traumatized by the experience? There's just... so many feelings happening and I don't really believe any of them? I would like this to hurry up and get to the island again.

I'm not totally bought into why Ellie is so traumatized by her experience with the island as a twelve year old. Like... she's in her 30s now and it still seems like an active wound? I'm struggling to connect with the character so far, but it's very early. I have to at least get to the Island and Clay before I give up.
