Because magic never did the kind thing. There would be no prize at the end of all your suffering. There was no reward but survival.

What if this wasn’t punishment or trial? What if, for once, luck was running in her direction instead of away? What if this was her prize for so much hurt??What if, this time, magic had worked the way it was supposed to, the way it did in stories?

oof…

“Exodus. That fucking wolf is quoting scripture at me.”

every author wants to “move past” trigger warnings and leave it to a bunch of readers to create databases of whatever might be in the book but this is proof why this doesn’t work as a solution…

i’ve been on 3 sites before even starting this book

1 of 3 had a tw for racism the other 2 didn’t

mind you none had a warning for slavery or slave catching/hunting

racism is too broad of a trigger warning

i feel bad bc i can’t stop laughing but… nothing is funny 😭

“is Darlington why you don’t date?”

“He’s a friend. A mentor.”

“So?”

“He’s… expensive.” Darlington was too beautiful, too well-read l, too well-traveled. He wasn’t just cut from a different cloth; he was too finely made and tailored.

Mercy grinned “I like expensive things.”

mercy i get you girl (so does alex but she’ll get there)

he’d go to tell to take notes on the climate is crazyyyyyyyy

don’t mock the guy for having an overactive sense of curiosity ok

alex is truly better than me bc when he started asking for books bc he’s bored i would’ve thrown one at his head… READ THE ROOM
