*Spoilers in comments* this was a fairly engaging book, although the ending was so cliché. I really loved how short the book was, because it allowed the plot to move very quickly without a lot of excess detail and information. Overall, I would definitely recommend for a quick thriller read.

The story covers main character Palmer, who is married to Ben. They just had a baby son named Grayson. After bringing home, the baby Ben starts acting kind of weird and Palmer gets suspicious. Palmer goes back to work and confide in her friend Danica and her other friend that she feels like something’s off. One day she follows Ben, who is a stay at home dad, after she pretends to leave for Work and finds out that he’s been meeting some random woman at a restaurant a few cities over. She continues to follow him and one day sees that he went to her house and they were hanging out in the backyard with the son Grayson. She even sees the woman tried to breast-feed Grayson.

At that point Palmer realizes that she needs to confront Ben about what’s happening, so she comes home only to find that Ben and Grayson are missing. She ends up going to her friend Danica and her husband Tim’s house to stay for a little while while the police investigate. Then she ends up leaving the house because the girl that Ben was with is like a travel blogger, so she was following all her social media and found out where she was going. She manages to track down the house and sneaks in to find that her son Grayson is there. Kat attempts to then kill Palmer stating that Grayson is her son. They get into this giant altercation where Palmer hurts herself because her stitches open, and the other woman stabs her in the shoulder, but Ben ends up coming in and stabbing the woman to death.
It’s important to note that Palmer was already suspicious of them because she was cheating on by her former partner, Nate. This will come into play later. After stabbing that woman, whose name is Kat. We then get Ben’s perspective which is basically that Ben and Kat were married. She was far along in her pregnancy where she was hit by a drunk driver, and she ended up losing the baby as well as her ability to have a baby in the future. She unfortunately became very unhinged and started acting irrationally. They ended up drifting apart and he broke up with her at which point he met Palmer. Kat was on the road to healing but when she found out that Ben had a baby she like lost her mind. That’s when she contacted Ben saying that she was better but she actually wasn’t. Her whole intention was to steal the baby, which is what she did. So she ends up, basically knocking Ben unconscious, taking him and the baby and trying to bury Ben in a shallow grave after she knocked him unconscious. He ended up, digging himself out and dragging himself to the house at which point he saw her in the confrontation with Palmer. He ended up stabbing Kat to make sure that she wouldn’t hurt Palmer further. It turns out at that time the police came storming in, the one that were investigating, because Palmer’s friend Danica and Tim had called the police and let them know what was happening.
Ben had never told Palmer that he was previously married about any of the other drama, so after all of this it flashes forward two years with Palmer saying that her and Danica opened up their own event planning firm. Her and Ben were separated, living in their own spaces and sharing custody of Grayson. They were on the road to building their relationship. One day, Nate, Palmer‘s ex who was an alcoholic and a cheater, comes back and invites her to brunch. They go to brunch, and Ben runs into them. Ben then essentially recognizes Nate as the drunk driver that crashed into his pregnant wife at that time Kat. At that point, he decides to exact revenge by killing Nate. So once they both leave Palmer’s apartment, Ben says that he needs Nate’s help to carry some stuff up to Palmer’s apartment at which point he hit him with a tire iron. That’s essentially where the story ends.
