Aaaargh, what is it about paragraph after paragraph of Cendese narrating a spice scene in dual format that burns me out so fucking bad, to the point that I'm tempted to DNF? I honestly am coming to an ever firmer conclusion that I just shouldn't bother with Cendese when he's not in duet. (I'll forever love him in Merc & Mort, though.)

Mildly sad Cendese and Zaba won't be getting cameos in Mon & Mas...

When the book actually lampshades the black cat and golden retriever tropes.
Also, I'm looking forward to these books moving on from their awkwardly "sexy man calendar" covers that don't really represent the book at all.
