Look, I get that the characters speak Spanish, and the book is set in a Spanish speaking country. But if you’re going to write the book in English, can we please stick with English? There’s so many Spanish words that I don’t know sprinkled in and I’m really tired of the story being interrupted so I can look up what they mean.

“She had a way of looking past someone—” No, just stop. Stop right there. Elías has no idea what Alba has “a way” of doing. He met her once and talked to her for maybe a total of five minutes, and four of it was in the dark where he could barely see her. He doesn’t know anything about her and her “ways.”

This book is crazy boring. I really hope something happens soon. I don’t want to DNF another one 😭

This book is confusing. First of all, how is Alba blackmailing Carlos when he’s completely aware of why they’re getting engaged? It benefits both of them. Did I miss something? Second, what fucking country is Alba in? I thought Elías was traveling to Mexico from Spain, but maybe I misunderstood. But if it is Mexico, why is everyone fair haired? And why are all these fair-haired people speaking Spanish?

Saying “fuck you” to someone in 1765 was not a thing. The word “fuck” existed, but it wasn’t used in that way. I know, I know, it’s just a book and things like that don’t have to be accurate but this is bothering me. It makes it feel too modern. It’s taking away from the fact that this is 1765.

Wait so I chose this book because it was already on my to-read list and would satisfy one of the challenges I’m trying to complete. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to what it was about, but…what is it with me and demon-infested mines right now? 🤣 From The Book of Accidents to this lol.
