i gotta say , for how old Sebastian is, i kinda expect him to be wiser. also, at this point three timelines jump around a bit too much and the romance feels like an after-thought, especially since this is all Seb's pov

"her virginal cooch" 🙄 you could have just said it's a thigh bone or a leg bone.

ngl this book would be much better without the Jehanne and Gilles-subplot. Yes, the same war god is there too but is this really necessary to drag two real life historical figures into what's essentially a fantasy story with a historical setting? it would be better to keep this to two timelines only and keep it centered on Sebastian and Antoine/Jacques imo.

im not offended of jeanne d'arc's behalf. one book picturing her as a naive religious fanatic isn't gonna destroy her memory and besides.. girl's been dead for six centuries. She doesn't care.

like, this is fine so far but i am not super in love with it. im somewhat interested in what the Beast is and if we learn more of how Sebastian and Sarmodel connected.

is the implication here that whatshisface is also the Beast? because i have a hard time understanding what Jeanne d'arc has to do with this since she lived three hundred years in the past 😅

this is pretty interesting so far but my god i dont like the footnotes. they work pretty much never with a fiction book imo.
