This is already incredible because of the writing quality. Fitz’s internal dialogue is not only deliciously descriptive but introspective as well and this introduction to his character tells me so much about him from the first THREE PAGES. So many of these fantasy books (no shade) are like “They did this. She thought this. Then they did this.” So this prose is just noticeably leagues above.
