“I decorate her body in the flowers. Covering the ugly wound.” - Katniss

Katniss honours Rue’s life and demands the capitol’s focus on her humanity. This is no longer a game. It’s a young girl who has tragically lost her life.

This act shows us such a gentleness in Katniss, but we also see that underlying fire and will to defy the capitol. This is the very beginning of Katniss becoming the mockingjay.

“Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it’s safe here it’s warm
Here the daisies guard you for every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow bring
them true
Here is the place where I love you.”

Goodbye sweet Rue 🐦‍⬛ (I’m crying my face off rn)

“You can lift fifty-kilo bags of flour,” I snap at him. “Tell him that. That’s not nothing.” - Katniss

“Yes, and I’m sure the arena will be full of bags of flour for me to chuck at people.” - Peeta

IM DEAD LAAAAUUGGGHHIING

A warning bell goes off in my head. Don’t be so stupid. Peeta is planning how to kill you… The more likeable he is, the more deadly he is.

But because two can play at this game, I stand on my tiptoe and kiss his cheek. Right on his bruise.”

Katniss is out here playing 5D chess and Peeta doesn’t have a clue he’s in the game 💀

“I’m glad now I have Peeta to clutch for balance; he is so steady, solid as a rock.”

And he is gonna be her steady solid rock for the rest of time 😭

Also little does she know he can physically turn himself into a rock too I’m ded

“A kind Peeta Mellark is far more dangerous to me than an unkind one.”

For the foreseeable future all my updates will be about the boy with the bread 🥖 🥯 🍞

the crowd touches the three middle fingers of their left hand to their lips and holds it out to me

There’s something so deeply powerful embedded in this gesture and I find throughout the series its meaning and use becomes multifaceted. In this moment at the reaping it’s unity, acknowledgement, gratitude and admiration of the great sacrifice and act of love Katniss is making for her sister, as well as a farewell

“There’s never been anything romantic between Gale and me.” - Katniss

I KNOW THAT’S RIGHT GURL
