There’s a red welt across the center of it, and the second I notice, both my palms begin to throb.

A welt…but not actively bleeding?
up until now all riders were bleeding, prior to binding a dragon — Dain is hurt, but not actively bleeding, or at least there nothing hinting at it. Could he be Venin? Could his mum?

“Now, you get in there and claim your green.”
“I’m thinking of a red.”
He blanches. “Oh, no. A red would be too ill-tempered for you. Listen to me on this, son. I’m speaking from experience. You should approach a green"

Why…why isn’t he keen on Dain bonding a red?
What does he know? Was Dains mother bonded to a red? Why is he scared of Dain bonding a red. I NEED ANSWERS

but it’s Dain just wanting to make his Dad proud and following his orders —> not knowing that it would ultimately lead to Athebyne being attacked with Violet in it and LIAM DYING

Mom took off while we were stationed in Luceras. Considering Dad swears it was because Mom inferred he wasn’t capable of protecting her with the Tyrs rebelling,

Did she turn Venin while she was fighting along the border and General Aeros made her leave? And that’s why he’s so over protective of Dain?

“I have no wish to lose you to frostbite after finally having chosen you.” There’s that finally again. “According to Kaori, you’ve never bonded before. You’re only twenty-seven years old.” It doesn’t make sense. “What even is a year?”

…yes. What is a year? Do dragon years work differently?

“I know. Yet another reason I have finally chosen to involve myself with your kind again.”

“Again” doesn’t make sense with a dragon that hasn’t bonded before and is only 27 years old.

“It is why I seek your bloodline.” That comment raises my brows, but I keep moving forward, curving around the largest of the boulders. “Why I seek you.”

This is highly specific but WHY

“I know all about your interests, Garrick Tavis.” The burr in his tone catches on the Rs in my name. “I know the power you’ll need to pursue them.”

It’s he knows Garrick would willingly tune Venin for more power. And if he IS older than he says then he deffo knows about the Venin.
