The town seems interesting so far

I appreciate being upfront with desire and open to a fwb situation, but I’m finding it hard to connect to Ava and Kal.
Ava feels like she swings from not believing she can do anything to literally talking about her death, to studying to help with magic she still believes she cannot fully do?
Kal just feel one-noted and bit flat/borong

One wrong move and suddenly the great aunt you thought was nice is now as evil as everyone else… I cannot keep up with this girls mindset changes
