People are becoming zombie-like and disappearing due to a ring. 'The Empress' wants Clara to fetch it for her, off the hand of a famous singer. Clara refuses at first, but agrees after Samuel goes missing. If she's successful she'll cancel whatever her original bargain was.

Aristotle has joined the crew. I don't dislike the story, but it seems a little childish - is this aimed at teens?

Clara sees spirits and makes deals, but there's always a catch. A tussle with Addie and meeting the musician, Israel. Zelda's origin is pretty wild, but I suppose that sort of thing must have happened. I don't know where the story is going yet, but the main cast are being set up bit by bit.

I wonder why Clara is well-known? And what kind of deal did she make?
