My goodness! I don't think I've ever read so much sass in any other Jane Austen novel! If someone is dumb, he is described in more terms of idiocy than there are stars in the sky! Just say he's silly and move on! We don't need an entire chapter about how dumb he is! I know I'm falling into that trap of this population of bad readers who complain about big words, but please, let's just get on with the love story!

Oh no... I've listened to almost half the book already today and I've gleaned nothing... Where exactly does the love story part come in??? Am I missing it??? I know I read this before but couldn't remember anything about it, and now I think I see why. Also, now I can't really blame the Dakota Johnson remake for trying to make it more interesting too...

2/2 But now the entire 4th chapter is a whole ass love story that we only get to hear about in past tense! But this is supposed to be Jane Austen's most romantic novel?? I get it, the majority of the novel is going to be the second chance part. But you spent 3 chapters talking about a rich asshole deciding that instead of 3 houses he can only keep 2, but only 1 chapter describing a whole ass initial love affair?!

Of course I own this. Of course I know how to read. Of course I tried and had to fight through the first 3 chapters. But the audiobook is narrated by Cynthia Erivo! I'm in heaven now! And anyway, the first 2 chapters can be summed up by one single sentence as "Sir Walter Eliot is a rude idiot" and the 3rd chapter with one more sentence "No worries, he's fucked off to Bath." 1/2
