JJoyce Yu’s Reviews > My Name Is Emilia del Valle > Status Update

Hmm is emelia’s journey up to now not a bit.. fanciful? It felt like the sexism she would face as a female journalist in the 19th century is lip service only. Everyone accepted it when she out nowhere started publishing under her name and now she’s straight up interviewing the Chilean president? It feels like it does not have the scale or depth of house of spirits.. kinda crazy it’s by the same author even.

So neat! Just what I love about historical fictions. I also love this protagonist. But i kept expecting her to have magical powers lol.

Without my step father’s cheerful sweetness, my mother surely would have poisoned my soul...
Sensitive, takes everything personally, even the wind and rain.. wow. Uncanny ._.
