The Doll - in Stephen King’s intro he mentioned Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca being based on a story by du Maurier. When this started I thought maybe this was that story… no. This was actually really creepy - I liked it a lot. It just ended so abruptly and I was expecting so much more. Very weird though and I wish there was more.

Monte Verità - this one started out kind of slow, but this is one of my favorites so far. Maybe it’s because it was a bit longer and could develop more? Kind of reminded me of a Lovecraft story - it was very well done

The Birds - until I picked this out to read I had no idea Hitchcock’s story was based on this. Stephen King’s introduction mentioned it so I knew it was coming up. An absolute classic. I will have to rewatch the movie (I haven’t seen it in years). 🦜🦉🐦🦆🦅🐦‍⬛🐦‍🔥🪶

The Apple Tree - I really liked this one - a lot of symbolism embedded here - kind of reminded of something Poe might have written.

The Alibi - this took a turn I wasn’t expecting and I’m not sure I understood the ending. I will have to spoiler tag once I get around to writing a review 😀. Another pretty good story.

Don’t Look Now - this seemed a bit drawn out, but it was a pretty good story. I liked it

The Blue Lenses - this is a great story to kick off the collection. As I was reading it I knew it reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode. So I looked it up and the TZ episode is called Eye of the Beholder. According to what I’ve read it is not based on the story. It is highly coincidental that this one came out a year before the TV episode. They’re both good though.
