Jinshi gives orders to Maomao to teach the consorts formally. Maomao doesn't really like this but she doesn't have much of a choice. She pushes Jinshi out and lectures the consorts for a couple of hours before dismissing class. When asked about what happened she gives a vague response and says to ask the emperor what he thinks.

This chapter was all about Suiren. We get to see more of her stand-off ish character that is similar to Maomao in some ways. She can get on Maomao’s ass a bit but also is curious about her medicinal capabilities. Apparently she also has some relations with the military doctor and under his orders does some stuff for him.

Maomao has to treat someone at the house and also weary of a certain customer. It’s quite sad but not much you can do about it. The little brother rose above the ashes and is the one getting job deals at the palace. Jinshi suspected Maomao might know what that’s about. Jinshi also continues to chat with Lakan but he ultimately doesn’t get a direct answer lol

This chapter didn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me if I’m being honest. I got the non cooperating part and solving the puzzle but I don’t get the point/mystery solved of what the dad was trying to say. Maomao of course does her thing and then dips. RIP to lead poisoning.

She takes her time, and even tries to taste the poison herself but the people around her make her puke it before she can experience which she's bitter about.
