Matthias added a status update
"Shrugging" doesn't happen half as much in real life as it does in books, right? I almost never see it actually happen.

Junta *shrug*
I second Jean-Paul. Maybe you can try and incorporate it into your life and environment and see if it spreads.

Matthias I'll try ;-) Maybe I'm already doing it but subconsciously. I just tried picturing the people that I know to actually shrug. The difficulties I had with that prompted this status update. I thought I was on to something but evidently I'm not!

Mir Yeah, sorry, I think people around here shrug quite a bit. Maybe you are just part of a well-spoken community of people who are never without fitting words!

carol. On the other hand, I *eyeroll* about a hundred times more often than they do in books.

message 5: by Mir (new)

Mir I hope people don't really snort as much as they do in fiction.

carol. *snort*

A lot of people do duck face and look off at nothing as they rock their head side to side and mime, with their hands, the motion of an unbalanced scale.

Arthur Graham I try to squeeze in a good snort or two every single goddamn day.

message 9: by Jane (new)

Jane Jago I do it all the time. Principally because it posses my husband off

Yeah, but you're living in a Bukowski novel.

This much is true. Either that, or a really bad episode of Californication...

Matthias I have just noticed that I don't shrug because my shoulders, at some point during my youth, have locked in the upright position, making further spasms of expressive elevation impossible. I made an appointment with the physiotherapist, who will see that my future shrugging needs shall be fulfilled. Thank you for your guidance, my friends. The reason I didn't see it around me I account to my statements being prone to receive only the most wholehearted form of agreement.

Mir I look forward to hearing about how shrugging changes your life, Matthias!
