Starting some light reading during these strange times. Maybe get my Goodreads activities back on track? Hope everyone, and my friends here in particular, is well, staying healthy, safe and inspired.

Wow, it's been a really long time since I've been here. Haven't been able to do much reading, to my shame. In the mean time, I was wondering if some of my GR friends could give me some recommendations on contemporary Russian authors, mainly in the field of sci-fi and/or comedy. I hope to catch up soon! :-)

A book with many secrets and with an unsurpassed eagerness to divulge them.

Nothing much happening yet. Don't know how to explain the uneasiness I'm feeling, this dark presence just behind and between my shoulder blades, the need to look behind me and my insistance on turning on the lights before entering any room and only turning them off when I've got one foot out the door but surely it can't have anything to do with this book because nothing happened yet.

Things took an awful turn quite suddenly here. Great writing, I must say!

My new bookcase arrived! It's enormous! Just the thought of filling it up makes me happy. I'd post pictures but my smartphone broke. I'll repair it as soon as I tire of staring at my new purchase, which is probably NEVER!!!

The author's name should have been a giveaway: this is a book with ups and downs. Just got through some uphill pages to a pretty nice summit on the importance of being able to make your beloved laugh. Decent, but enthusiasm has moved over for willpower somewhere during the reading of this book.

Just discovered Strand bookstore in NYC. 18 miles of books but only one tiny suitcase to fill up. I want to live here.

Conferencing and holidaying will mean a spotty GR presence at best for the coming weeks. I should land here again in August. I'll keep up with my reading, promise!

It's intriguing, but also confusing and kind of a buzzkill. Need lighter reading to accompany this one.

"Shrugging" doesn't happen half as much in real life as it does in books, right? I almost never see it actually happen.

Never mind, I just got it! Must be the heat. So, great book so far :-)

It's getting a bit confusing. And either we've got an unreliable narrator or I found a grating, though small, continuity error. Fine book otherwise.

I'm already recommending this book to every unfortunate soul that runs into me. Tree-mendous read!

There's no better teacher than a passionate one. Fantastic read so far.

Interpretations would be welcomed. It seems this book will be slightly more challenging than NCFOM, but enjoying it so far.

Excellent. This is the second time this author manages to capture me with a seemingly everyday story in which nothing extraordinary happens. Coe's voice has an unmistakable charm that will land him (I think) in my favorite author list soon.
