The age difference between Carlotta & Montgomery, given their other dynamics and how naive/young/immature C is, is just ... ick.

The story isn't really going anywhere, and it's doing so rather slowly.

Oh! This is more explicit about the house of pain than Dr Moreau's Island.

I don't like the repetition of scenes from different POVs - they keep making me feel like I'm rereading parts of the book.

Something about this writing is so passive, like a tv running in the background.
