Good point- the brilliant Black scholars couldn't teach at white schools so the Black schools got incredible professors, even tho they were smaller and poorer in most cases.

Ths us hiring hundreds of black women during wwii to do math, while they have to segregate the bathroom, sounds so out of place i wouldn't believe it not knowing this book/movie

But a whole bunch of the engineers, coders and military who design weapons and work for the government are trans in this 2026 hostile world. There are a lot of parallels and overlapping reasons. Fascinating

The book took 6 years to research and write and had a movie option before it was completed. Mind blown

Already hooked in the prologue

She (author is a Black woman) grew up with a church full of mathematicians and "so many African Americans working in science, math and engineering that I thought that's just what black folks did'

Wow

I grew up around rich white people

And later moved around poor white people who are also largely ignorant and uneducated. I don't know any mathematicians . This is so cool
