I think Austen would approve, it is a worthy child, fitting neatly within and underneath

The heroine is human! Hurrah!
She begins to rub shoulders with her predecessor
A story of human nature, happiness, with layers of characters and many different angles and possible insights. The characters do not feel as 3D as George Eliot - more like Homo Austen than Homo Eliot of which neither are wrong

Alright into part 2 and it’s great, what you would want in exploring the lives of the characters after the story ends and getting to know the lesser characters better - but it feels like she is allowing the characters to be real and thus not dictating one way or another so I don’t feel like it tramples on the original or I can separate them in the right way

3 stars so far, like Theo it feels like the author is trying to convince the world of something
The world and dialogue is good, feels close enough
Even if I agree and even if I agree wholeheartedly, we cannot make it true with words, create an honest 3 dimensional character and let them live and if your hope or suspicion is close to truth, then it will be there to be found
