VanderMeer has the same problem Stephen King does; Where what he's writing about is very good and interesting, but he is SO detailed that it can be hard to trudge through at times. I do think VanderMeer's language is flowery-er than King's too, which has made reading parts of the last 2 books kind of a bore tbh
