This novel reminds me of various post-apocalyptic and sci-fi stories: the Mad Max movies, the video game series Fallout, Ray Bradbury’s book-burning classic Fahrenheit 451. Already I’m pulled into the world of these burlap-ragged monks who are ‘bookleggers’ and ‘memorisers’, trying to preserve ancient knowledge after nuclear disaster.
