A figure stares at me from the window. Her face is as pale as her nightgown, but her eyes are a raging blue as she stares at me.
My eyes.
The ghost Jeremy mentioned is staring at me and she looks ready to kill me.

Omg so she is alive!!
(Also side note this seems like a scene out of verity)

“Do you need Mommy too, Papa?”
Adrian pauses before he says calmly, assertively, “I do.”

He looks no older than five, give or take. There’s no doubt who the little boy is. He’s the spitting image of Adrian with his dark hair and gray eyes. Only, his are lighter and bigger.

My thoughts are reinforced when the Russian says, “From now on, you’re Lia Volkov. Wife of Adrian Volkov.”

I’m not Winter in his eyes. I’m already Lia, and he intends to cement that fact into the very marrow of my bones going forward.
He won’t be able to succeed.
I’m Winter Cavanaugh and I’m living on behalf of myself and my baby girl.

“I have an offer for you, Winter.”
“What offer?”
His lips graze the shell of my ear as he murmurs, “Be my wife.”
