The interaction between Chris and Karras from their first meeting on the bridge is so intimate and borderline sexual. It laces the tension tighter than a Victorian corset.😁. It lingers throughout his first encounter with Regan.

And so, all those modern movies where creatures twist into abnormal visions of horror - bending, cracking, and popping bones.
Yep, it all originated with The Exorcist.

I’ve seen the movie!!!!🤣. A dozen times at least!

Blatty’s Father Karras character is simply sublime.

Broad morning sunshine on my back snd still this book gives me chills.

Twisting and knotting up the reader before a big “scene”. Anticipation drags the reader.

Ending line from Chapter 1 (how could you not read this book? It wants you!):

“What looked like morning was the beginning of endless night.”

I love writers who can paint pictures with the pen.
Blatty drowns you in the cold ruins of Mosul then revives you with a dose of touchable Georgetown.
