If book club wasn't my motivation behind this one, it would have been a DNF - though the book itself is well written and echoes reality while still providing a YA perspective.Reading the harsh realities through the eyes of a teen was emotionally a lot to take in. The themes of the poor getting poorer, school shootings, and domestic abuse is not what I was prepared for. I wanted Zoey to have better people in her life!
