Excellent beginning on Augustine's "Retractions." Bourke notes that retractiones does not mean that "Augustine changed his mind, rejected popery, and now believes in the sweet teaching of grace." Rather, it means "to treat again."

Looks promising. The world's leading Augustinian scholar divides Augustine's thoughts--in Augustine's own words--among useful headings, yet without cheapening Augustine, for it is in the Saint's own words. Bourke does give us helpful page-long summaries at the beginning of each section, minimizing the danger of taking Augustine out of context.
