Great book that breaks open the NT. Easy to read. Full of info. I just bought this and the first book as a graduation gift. The recipient seemed to be pleased and said he had heard they were good books. (They are great books.)

Peter was given the power to forgive sins. The "under shepherds" are the Apostles who are also given the power to forgive sins. Their successors, the bishops, are given the power to forgive sins. Jesus teaches how to deal with sin and the members of the Church. Jesus also gives the Apostles (and their successors, the bishops) the authority to interpret divine law.

Excellent guide for reading the New Testament because it gives the basic teachings while highlighting the main themes of the story. Read the New Testament verses cited and then read the commentary to garner the meaning.
