Now, this is more like it! Short book, likeable (or at least believable) characters, up-to-date science, a weird exoplanet, hot sex on the long dull trip out.... My kind of story.

I'd forgotten (or never knew) that Duncan is a fellow-geologist. He worked in the Canadian oilpatch of Alberta from 1955 to 1986. He was laid off about the time he made his first book sale, and became a full-time writer.
